Saharan Meteorite Page

These meteorites were found in the Saharan Desert in North West Africa. In the Countries of Morocco, Libya, and Oman.  I have many many different types of meteorites with a huge variety of colors and sizes, different matrix and different shapes. Lots of beautiful meteorites. I gave these unclassified meteorites a name just so that we can refer to them,  if you have a question about one or if you would like to purchase one E-Mail me

Unclassified Saharan Meteorite. The magnetic suscability put this in the LL chondrite region of the plotted graph, MS-30

This has a very beautiful polished finish. The melt river is very interesting. This is half of the main mass, After polishing it, I'll post the other half.

This piece has a really nice primary and secondary crust. The primary is really black, You can see many different colored chondrule through the secondary crust. Notice the green inclusions in the first and last photos. and the black crust in the5th and 6th photos.

Awesome shaped and nicely crusted unclassified Saharan. the crust looks like leather.

Sah420

This unclassified Saharan meteorite is unlike any other that I have come across. It has a very porous grey interior with quite a bit of white material mixed in with the grey matrix. When I was polishing it the smell of sulfur was pretty strong. You can also see inclusions and melt pits through the surface. This is a 300 gram piece, I am sending in a sample so it can be classified, I think it might be worth it.

SAH011

These are 97.2 gram, 71.3 gram end pieces. The dark material on the top smell strong of sulfur. I would have to say this is a very unique piece, I have not seen this before. The crust on the top of the meteorite was really thick and black and the crust that is on the bottom is a lighter brown, you could defiantly see a difference in crust and matrix color.

Sah015

This is a very nice, unique piece. It seems to have no visual chondrules and some very nice veins, I am not sure what they are made up of?  You can notice that this has many little hole, it is really porous and looks really cool under the microscope. This weighs a total of 300 grams. I am probably going to try and have it classified.

DL001

This is a very nicely crusted unclassified Saharan Meteorites. It has a very nice interior that has two different lithogies, a grey one and a white/brown one. I think that the grey part looks like Rumuruti. I am sure I am wrong, but that's what it looks like to me.

NWA024

This is a pretty cool little nosecone that has been sandblasted in the desert. This has a really interesting variation in interior color and chondrule size and color. This can easily be seen from the outside of this awesome little meteorite.

Sah018

This is an awesome half from an unclassified Saharan meteorite. The other half has been sold, it was almost identical to this one. This is one of my favorite Saharan meteorites that is in my collection.

Sah019

This is a piece has very nice chondrules, the multi colored chondrule on the left side about mid way down looks just like a photo of a man with a moustache, or maybe I am just crazy and seeing things.

SAH012

This is a very nice unclassified Saharan Meteorite that has awesome flow lines, and is oriented. It is however a half a meteorite. It appears to have broken up just before impact, it has a very light layer of fusion crust on the broken edge. The top of it has a very dark and thick fusion crust compared to the crust with the very nice flow lines.

NWA025

This is a small endpiece off of a bigger piece, photos coming later. I really like the look of this piece. It has two lithos and some really nice metal flecks also an interesting exterior as well.

SAH013

This is a really nice Saharan meteorite slice that is brecciated on the top, it is like this through out the full meteorite. I have a few slices and a couple of end pieces available if you interested. I like this one because of the nice chondrule.

Sah016

This is an interesting piece, it has a light and a dark lithogy. It almost looks like a dirty part or a part that was wet or something, but it never was, after being cut. The dark part looks like a man in a black hood, you can see chondrules that look like eyes and the outline of the dark part looks like the hood and body. Maybe I am just crazy and look at these too much, who knows. I do know that this is one of my favorite pieces.

SAH014

This is a very interesting piece. I like how it is brecciated and has the different colored interior. This is one of my favorites because of how nice it looks, many nice chondrules to go along with the brecciated interior, very nice.

SAH001

This awesome example of a meteorite weighs in at 82.6g.  You can see lots of chondrules in the first photo. Note the big round black spot on the crust. This has has not been cut into or had a window ground into it, yet. If I have for too much longer I will not be able to keep my hands off of it, I really want to see the inside, but do not want to take away from the value.

SAH006

This is one of my favorites, because it is very nicely crusted and show evidence of where it impacted Earth. It shows that it broke up just before impact.

SAH007

Note the deep melt pit and very nice chondrules. I have slices of this available if you are interested.

IM002

This is an unclassified NWA. It is a bit different than most others that I have examined before. It has red, white yellow and orange inclusions/chondrules. It has two large visible chondrules one is light grey and also a reddish yellow one. This one is a very nice oriented meteorite. The last three photos are under a 30X microscope. It weighs 33.5gr.

IM021

This unclassified NWA meteorite has lots of white inclusions and seems to be kinda porous. This was all one piece when I got it, while cutting it some pieces broke off and others were cut off, this is not the full piece, I have sold a piece of this one. This one is unique, the interior is much lighter brown than the other NWAs that I have, I have a bunch of them. This is the only one that I have seen with inclusions like this one. There does not to be any chondrules.

SAH008

This is a very nice fully crusted oriented Saharan meteorite. It has been sold

SAH009

Note the nice green inclusions and the black interior, this is a very interesting specimen.

SAH004

SAH005

I really the the shape of this one, it has nice character, I think. I like it so much that I used it in my banner for my forum, I did cut it in half, I regret it now.

IM003

This one is another one of my favorites, It is my lucky meteorite, yup I said my lucky meteorite. This one has brought me luck since the day I received it. Believe it or not. Here is a bit of an explanation. The day I got it (May 5th) we went bowling, I am very bad at it. The first two games I scored a 43 and a 42. That's pretty bad. The next game I realized this was in my pocket and I was fooling around saying it was my lucky meteorite and everyone told me I was crazy. Any way that whole game I never got one gutter ball, before that game I could not go twice w/out a gutter ball. I scored a 189 that game. Every time before I went I rubbed it. Another example is: At my kids baseball games, the last one of the season, my kids brought the lucky meteorite, My youngest son had never hit safely in a game all season. He rubbed it every time before he went up and he was able to get two hits, one of the hits was off of a pitcher who has only given up 8 hits all season. There are more examples but I do not want to take up this whole page with my stories about this meteorite. This is probably the only one on the site that I would not sell. It weighs 82.3 grams.

IM004

I would have to say that this is one of my top five favorites that I own. I like it because of its shape. I think it kinda looks like a crown and at a certain angle it looks a bit like a from (the second photo). I also like how it is flat on the bottom and very well defined on the rest of the surfaces. This awesome specimen weighs in at a whopping 45.9 grams.

IM015

This small one really resembles IM004 on both the interior and the exterior. The interior is very brecciated and is a really light tannish grey color and thick black veins. The fusion crust is very apparent on one side on this one. A close up shows shock veins, I think the second macro shows a lady lighting a smoke. This one weighs 13.4g.

IM016

This 34.4 gram beauty is a nice specimen. It is in the shape of an arrow head. It has quite a bit of metal flakes all over it. It has a dark interior, it is black and dark brown. It really has a nicely defined surface.

IM017

This is an interesting piece, it is actually half of an individual that broke almost in half. this one weighs 21.4. the total weight with the other piece is 53.8grams. I really like studding the interior of this fragment. It is light gray with black veins going all through it almost like a lightning strike. The other piece of this has not been cut or ground it is how it was when it broke off. There are no visible chondrules that I can see. This is a pretty unique specimen. I am selling the other piece, if interested make an offer by email.

IM006

This is a pretty weathered NWA. It has a reddish/orange interior with nice grey chondrules. There are also a lot of small black speck inside of it. This was all one piece at one time. It fell off the table and a couple of pieces broke off. After that happened I pulled it apart at the cracks. As you can see by the photos I ground and polished the ends of most of the pieces, because I like what it looks like after being cut or ground. The total weight of this meteorite with al the pieces is 370.6grams. I you are interested in a piece Email me.

IM007

This 18.4 gram shield is one of my favorite pieces. It is covered with small pits and has quite a few black veins running through it. You can see in the photo that it has an area of it that is white. It is unclassified, but I would venture to say that this one is a pretty rare type, but I could be very wrong.

IM009

This is a 12.6 gram NWA, what is unique about this one is that the crust is a shiny grayish color. I cut it in half to see the interior. The inside is as nice as exterior. As you can see in the center photo it is with out any visible chondrules. It does however have a thick black veins running through it in streaks that resemble lightning.

IM011

This 26.4g piece has very few chondrules Black veins. This one also has dark brown interior with small tannish white spots that have small grey chondrules. It has very few metal flakes that are visible.

IM012

This 30.9 gram meteorite from North West Africa is quite unique. It is loaded with small chondrules. It also has an inclusion that appears to be clear or grayish in color and can only be seen at an angle, it is obvious in the center photo. This is NOT an end piece. This is a whole individual, I just polished the bottom. It was flat on the bottom before I polished it.

IM018

This is a very weathered NWA. This piece weighs 42.0g. I cut of a piece of this to study. I is a very interesting specimen, I believe that their are diamonds in this one. It has lots of tiny sparkly objects. I also think that this may be enstatite, I am probably wrong, but that is my opinion. I searched thousands of photos of meteorites and found one that look just like this meteorite. It fits it to a tee. That is why I think it may be enstatite. I sold a piece of this on EBay. This is all that is left.

IM019

This one has many chondrules that widely vary in color and size. The total weight of this when purchased is 6gr.

IM020

This is a thin NWA with a blackish interior with green spots, they do not look like chondrules they look more like splotches. This is a flat NWA, it is the only one that I have like it, however I have a Ghubara that looks a lot like this one.

IM001

This one is a really nice crusted oriented NWA that weighs in at 40.1 grams. It has white inclusions and a small light tan chondrule and a small reddish chondrule/inclusion. This one has a nice oriented shape and window ground and polished into it.

IM005

This small Oriented NWA has a very nice looking interior. I can not see any chondrules in it, just metal flakes and black veins. This Is a nice looking piece both inside and the outside. This beauty weighs in at 42.2g.
