1942 DIMMITT H3.7 Regolith Breccia Meteorite Texas 3.3g

 

3.3 gram part slice of Dimmitt, an interesting H3.7, S3 Regolith Impact Breccia chondrite found in Castro County, Texas, USA in 1942 and recognized as a distinct fall in 1950. Dimmitt is interesting in that fragments from the LL group, Carbonaceous and other rare meteorite types have been identified in this stone. More recently, microscopic diamonds were reported to have been located so Dimmitt is still proving to be of scientific interest. Total Known Weight (TKW) is somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 kilograms. The weathering grade has not been reported. Dimmitt was found at coordinates 24°35’ N., 102°10'" W.
